Down East Veterans Outreach at a Glance

A Bit of Background on Me

In 1986 I completed USMC Officers Candidate School in Quantico VA and went on active duty after completing Basic Field Artillery School for Officers in Ft Sill OK. I reported to Camp Pendleton in Oct 1988 for assignment to 2nd Bn, 11th Marines. I completed one deployment to Okinawa from May to Nov 1989 as Executive Officer for HQ Btry, 12th Marines. Upon return to Camp Pendleton, I continued with 2/11 until I was chopped over to 5th Bn, 11th Marines at 29 Palms, shipping out with 7th Marines in Aug 1990 for Desert Shield. I served with R Btry, 5/11 for Shield Storm and returned in April 1991. I reverted back to 2/11 in June 1991 and was EAS on 1 Sep 1991. I served some time with HQ Btry 1st Bn 14th Marines in Alameda CA but ended that service in Aug 1992. I was Honorably Discharged in 1995.

After active duty I returned to the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1994 finished a Master’s of Business Administration in Operations Management, specializing in Transportation and Logistics. I then started my twenty-one year career in the Logistics field, focusing on Transportation. After working for twenty years in the transportation and logistics field, I left in June 2016 because I was tired of being in a high stress/low gratification environment.

In Jan 2017 I started studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. At the same time I felt the Spirit moving me towards a ministry with the only demographic people group that I can get along with, veterans. So after finishing my degree, I set up the Down East Veteran’s Outreach, where we can all get together with our fellow brothers and sisters and their families and worship in an environment free of bias, peer judgment, and prejudice.

The intent of my ministry is not to replace your regular Sunday church, but to supplement it. I am not ordained by any denomination, but like the early Christian leaders I am drawn by the Holy Spirit to share what I have learned with the hope that I can lead others to enjoy the love of God through his son, Jesus. Hopefully if you come, you will be inspired by the Spirit and see that His grace is all-encompassing and His working in our lives can be seen all around us.

Currently I am married with two girls, 14 and 10, and regularly attend the Rocky Mount Bible Church in Rocky Mount NC.
